Mangrove Plants and Their Pollen Morphology in Southeast Asia

Since 1980, I continued investigation of mangrove swamps in Southeast Asia for paleoenvironmental study by using pollen fossils. Mangrove plants which observed in this investigation were shown in Table 4. Pollen grains of the mangrove plants were treated with an acetolysis method and observed by light microscope (LM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). By SEM observation, it becomes possible to identify the pollen grains of mangrove plants for specific level. The morphologic figures of these mangrove pollen grains were shown in the Plates 5-34.
