Molluscan fauna of mangrove swamp environments is described and analysed based on samples collected by NINAYA Survey in Southeast Asia and SW Pacific from 1980 to 2000.

107 species are recognized from 123 localities of 15 districts in 10 countries. Faunal analysis of mollusks is done as follows;

1. Characteristic genera and species of the mangrove swamp are selected.

2. Faunal differences among three areas such as Hongkong to Indonesia (excluding Singapore),

Singapore and SW Pacific Islands are detected.

3. Typical patterns of distribution of mollusks of mangrove swamps in some places of Cebu Is., Singapore (Ubin Is., Tekong Is., Seletar River and Semakau Is. etc.), Belau (Palau) and New Caledonia are shown.

4. Ecological distribution patterns, especially vertical one of mollusks are described.

Mangrove environments in the area are divided into some types in detail such as river, island and ocean island types on the basis of physical and biological environments, distribution of molluscan assemblages (Table 6).

Characteristic genera and species in each environmental type are shown in Table 7.
